As expected, at yersterday’s meeting, the European Central Bank’s (ECB) decided to keep interest rates steady - at a record low of 1%.

After 7 rate drops (adding up to 3.25%) in less than a year, it had been widely predicted that ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet would announce that rates would remain unchanged this month.
The latest indictations are that the ECB will probably leave rates as they are for the immediate future.

AIB announced one year fixed rate of 2.49%

AIB announced yesterday that they are introducing a one year fixed rate of 2.49%. The new rate is just 0.49pc above the European Central Bank rate of 2pc. Buyers will be able to borrow up to 92pc of the value of the home.
